THE GOALS AND EXPECTATIONS FOR STAND DOWN
A) Stage a North County event creating a temporary safe haven for veterans and their families. They may currently be homeless or at increased risk of becoming homeless and struggling with excessive personal, physical, emotional, and spiritual burdens.
B) Provide them with basic needs such as, food, clothing, shelter, legal assistance, spiritual guidance, physical, medical, and mental health care.
C) Inform homeless veterans specifically in North County of the community services and government resources available to them and where to find them.
D) Most importantly, provide them an environment that allows the veteran to focus on themselves and to let them know that they are not alone and that someone cares.
Long Term Goals:
A) Helping them to learn how to handle their problems in everyday life.
B) Provide the potential for relieving isolation, increasing self-confidence, provide social support, activate motivation and return them to society as a whole person.
C) Letting them be an example to other homeless veterans to see it doesn’t have to be that way.
A) To have 200 or more homeless veterans attend the Stand Down.
B) To have 20 to 25% of the attendees take advantage of the services offered.
Long Term Expectations:
A) In the spirit of the Innovate 78 initiative and the cities involved along the Hwy 78 corridor, the NCSDVSD would like to utilize a stunning sum of its parts as a whole in a collaborative and comprehensive effort involving all North County communities from Hwy 56 north to the Riverside County line.
